Unemployment Reaches Lowest Levels for Three Years, But Masks the Plight of Out of Work Over-50s @TAEN_UK

The latest employment figures show a drop of 48,000 in the number of people out of work, to 2.47 million between July and September this year, bringing unemployment to its lowest levels for more than three years. The monthly figures released by the Office for National Statistics show an employment rate of 71.8 per cent for those aged 16 to 64, up 0.3 percentage points from April to June 2013, and up 0.6 percentage points on the previous year.
