Employers Must Support Childcare Needs of Older Workers, Urges TUC @TAEN_UK

The TUC has called on employers to be more sympathetic to requests for flexible working and annual leave from older workers, particularly during the school holidays. A survey of 5,500 workers aged over 50, conducted as part of the TUC’s Age Immaterial campaign, found that two in five women over the age of 50 are mothers of school-age children and one in five are combining work with caring for grandchildren. The campaign which looks at the often ignored needs of the over 50s at work found that almost 60 per cent of respondents had caring responsibilities – whether for elderly…
