2011 Census Shows Significant Rise in Workers Aged 65+

The proportion of people aged 65 and over and still in work has almost doubled in 10 years, a new report by the Office for National Statistics (ONS) has shown. The report based on the 2011 Census in England and Wales shows a rise from 8.7 per cent to 16 per cent, in the number of people aged 65 to 74 in work – an increase of 413,000 economically active people.
